    Using media browsers with DX8

DX8 supports the use of IMCE and Entity Browser. To configure DX8 to use a specific media browser navigate to DX8 > Configuration > System settings. The options that are shown depend on what media browser modules are enabled.

Here you can set the image browser to use for config and content.

    Using IMCE

IMCE is the default media browser set when installing DX8 and allows organizing of media into folders, this is useful for configuration such as default images on components.

    Global IMCE settings

If IMCE is set, it will handle the upload of images uploaded through DX8 elements, global settings such as file extensions, file size and which folders the user role has access too, these are set within an IMCE profile.

    1. Navigate to Configuration > Media > IMCE file manager
    2. Click the edit button next to a IMCE profile

    Using Entity Browser

Entity browser is recommended to be used for content, for example when editing an image on a component.

If you set the Entity Browser for content and allow images to be placed within a WYSIWYG element within a component, it is recommended that the text editor toolbar is updated to have access to the Media browser button and remove the IMCE button.

    1. Navigate to Configuration > Content Authoring > Text formats and editors
    2. Click edit next to DX8 text format
    3. Scroll down to Toolbar Configuration section

You will also need to enable "Display embedded entities" option on the DX8 text format for the Media entities to be displayed.

    Global Entity browser settings

If Entity browser is set, it will handle the upload of images uploaded through DX8 elements, global settings such as file extensions, file size, max, and minimum resolutions can be configured on the media entity.
